Fulvio Bonavia is an award-winning advertising and editorial photographer known for his uniquely inventive imagery. Born in Italy, he started out as a graphic designer and illustrator of film posters before devoting his energies to photography.
As a photographer, he brings his artistic and design sensibilities to each and every one of his pictures, doing all of postproduction himself so that his photographs are infused with his vision from start to finish.
The continuous collaboration with the most important advertising agencies around the world has led him to work between Milan and New York, receiving in recent years several international awards: from the Art Directors Club to the Epica Awards to the special prize as best photographer at the Festival della Comunicazione.
He has received awards from the PDN in New York, the American Photography, the Communication Arts, the International Photography Awards and the Prix de la Photographie in Paris.
In 2010 he was awarded as “Photographer of the Year” in the US by the prestigious Mobius Award, an award born in 1971, his year of birth.
In addition to continuous artistic research, he regularly collaborates with magazines of the level of Vogue Gioiello, Vogue Accessory, Vogue Italia and Vanity Fair as well as with several luxury brands. Today, among his clients are some of the most important international brands that have identified in his style the best way to represent their image.
In 2008, Hachette Australia published his first book “A Matter of Taste”, a collection of his creations in which haute couture and food mix together. The book is distributed in Australia, Brazil, France, Germany and Italy.
In 2009, Le Figaro dedicated to him its cover and then 10 pages in his special issue of Christmas “Guide Envies”. Thanks to this collaboration, he manages to expand his collection of images of “A Matter of Taste” with new creations in which he chooses to use accessories by Chanel, Cartier and Christian Louboutin.
In the same year his creations are exhibited at the Bon Marché in Paris to promote the French version of the book “Le goüt du Luxe”.
In 2010, Hong Kong Land invited him to exhibit his works at the Landmark, the luxury mecca of Hong Kong. Numerous interviews are published on the magazines and local newspapers, including the South China Morning Post, the Hong Kong Economic Journal, the Ming Pao Daily News, and In Magazine. RTHK Radio Television Hong Kong interviewed him on two different broadcasts.
In 2011, the British magazine Garage commissioned four images for the debut issue in which he participated with artists such as Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, John Baldessari, Paul McCarthy and Marina Abramovich, just to name a few. This time he chooses not to dwell on accessories but to interpret whole looks and select for his creations, together with fashion editor Giovanna Battaglia, Prada, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Moncler.
The images will then be awarded at the Prix de la Photographie in Paris in 2012.
In 2016 the International Photography Awards in Los Angeles rewards him as “Fine Art Photographer of the Year”.
